Aryna Sabalenka

Sabalenka was born in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. Sergey, her father (who passed away in 2019), was an ice-hockey player. Aryna Sabalenka was born in Minsk, Belarus on May 5th of 1998. Her career has seen her been awarded 12 WTA singles titles, including a Grand Slam at the 2023 Australian Open. Doubles is her forte and she has also won Majors at both the US Open (2019) and Australian Open (2021), both of which were with Elise Mertens. With the Belgian tennis star, she won WTA 1000s at Indian Wells in 2019 and Miami. Four women's teams have achieved this achievement. She rose from second to third on the singles world rankings at the end of August on the 23rd, 2021. The highest ranking she achieved was achieved again in January of 2023. After winning the Melbourne doubles event in February 2021 and gaining the doubles title, she managed rise up the rankings and take over the top spot on the list of that particular specialty. Dmitry Tursunov, a former Russian tennis star, coached her during through the season of 2018 until end and part of this season in 2020. Dieter Kindlmann coached her briefly from August 2020 to September. As of the year 2020's end, she's been coaching by her countryman Antonio Dubrov. Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova are her greatest idols.
